Wike Warns PDP: “Bring Peter Obi Back and the Party Will Collapse”

FCT Minister Nyesom Wike has issued a strong warning to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), cautioning that allowing former presidential candidate Peter Obi to return could destroy the party. Speaking during an interview, Wike dismissed growing calls for Obi’s comeback, questioning the sincerity behind it. He recalled Obi’s past criticism of the PDP, describing it as “rotten,” and wondered why the party should now be considered good enough for him to pursue his ambitions. According to Wike, such a move would be driven purely by personal ambition rather than principles or ideology. “If you want to destroy this party, dare it – bring Obi. There is no way he will come back just because of ambition. No more ideology, no longer principle,” he stated. His comments come as the PDP’s National Executive Committee recently resolved to zone its 2027 presidential ticket to the South, while maintaining its existing formula for the National Working Committee ahead of the November convention. Tape strangled and punched her inside her Vauxhall SUV during an eight-minute attack, while also armed with a knife.
