President Bola Tinubu has nominated Kingsley Tochukwu Ude, SAN, from Enugu State to serve as a minister in his administration.
The President’s letter requesting Senate confirmation of Ude’s appointment was read by Senate President Godswill Akpabio during Tuesday’s plenary session. After the announcement, the Senate referred the nomination to the Committee of the Whole for screening and further consideration.
This development follows the resignation of Uche Nnaji, the former Minister of Innovation, Science and Technology, who stepped down last month amid controversies surrounding his academic and NYSC certificates. Nnaji’s exit left Enugu State without a representative in the Federal Executive Council.
If confirmed, Kingsley Ude will fill that gap and bring Enugu back into Tinubu’s ministerial lineup. Ude, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria, is expected to bring his legal expertise and experience into the administration as it continues its governance and reform agenda.
With this nomination, observers say Tinubu appears to be moving quickly to restore full regional representation within his cabinet.
