A senior cleric in Plateau State, Rev. Ezekiel Dachomo, has issued a distressing alert, claiming that Boko Haram terrorists have placed a bounty on his head in a renewed threat aimed at silencing his advocacy against killings in the Middle Belt. The clergyman said the terror group has promised a substantial reward to anyone who can track him down and take his life.
Rev. Dachomo, who is the Regional Chairman of the Church of Christ in Nations in Barkin Ladi Local Government Area of Plateau State, made the allegations in a video circulated across social media platforms on Thursday. He stated that the latest threat is directly linked to his continued exposure of what he describes as ongoing genocide, mass burials and systematic attacks on Christian communities across Plateau State and beyond.
According to him, his determination to document and publicize videos of victims and devastated communities has drawn the attention of insurgents who see him as a major obstacle. He said the militants consider his voice too influential and his revelations too damaging to their operations, prompting them to target him for elimination.
Rev. Dachomo also revealed that the threats have come not only from Boko Haram but also from individuals he claims are aligned with the administration of President Bola Tinubu. He alleged that these individuals have repeatedly warned him to stop posting videos and reports on the killings, accusing him of inciting tension by exposing the scale of violence in the region.
In addition, the cleric noted that his Facebook and Instagram accounts have been deleted, while Meta has restricted him from uploading further videos. He said the company informed him that his content could jeopardize Nigeria’s internal security, a justification he strongly disputes.
In the video, he said he has received credible intelligence from reliable sources that the terrorist group is actively strategizing to assassinate him because of the awareness he is creating both locally and internationally.
“Boko Haram, the Islamic terrorists, have placed a bounty on my head, and anyone who kills me first will be rewarded,” he declared. “They are serious about finding me, but I will not stop speaking out.”
Rev. Dachomo insisted that he will not be intimidated or forced into silence despite the escalating risks. He said he began this mission fully aware that it could cost him his life, but he remains committed to drawing global attention to what he calls the systematic persecution and killing of Christians in Plateau State and other parts of the Middle Belt.
“Before I embarked on this journey of exposing Christian genocide in Plateau and in Nigeria, I knew my life would be in danger, but I do not fear death,” he stated. “In fact, my death will be more dangerous to them than now that I am alive.”
The cleric emphasized that the threat against him is not an isolated issue but part of a broader struggle for peace and justice in Nigeria. He called on citizens, religious leaders, human rights advocates and the international community to support efforts aimed at confronting terrorism and protecting vulnerable communities.
“This is not just about me. It is about every Nigerian who desires peace and safety. We need support to stand against this terrorism,” he added.
