Controversial relationship coach Blessing CEO has set the record straight after a viral video showing her in distress sparked claims that she was being assaulted by her partner, businessman Ikechukwu Ogbonna (IVD).
In a new interview with Sunday Scoop, Blessing explained the clip was filmed during a home robbery and not an instance of domestic abuse. She said a housekeeper employed at their residence stole valuables, and the situation escalated when IVD confronted the worker a scene that onlookers misread online.
“I removed the video because the police advised me to so they could investigate properly,” Blessing told the paper. “It was a robbery incident. The boy we employed as a housekeeper robbed us and sold some of our personal belongings. When IVD confronted him, there was a physical altercation. That was what people saw in the video.”
She added that public assumptions were fuelled by IVD’s prior controversies. “People just love negative stories. Because IVD has been associated with domestic violence in the past, many assume any cry for help means he is beating me. But IVD cannot beat me. If he slaps me, I will slap him back. We will fight.”
Blessing said she took down the clip at police request to allow law enforcement to handle the matter without interference, and urged the public to avoid jumping to conclusions before facts are established.
