Nigerian rapper Zlatan Ibile, born Omoniyi Temidayo Raphael, has opened up about what led to the end of his friendship with Grammy award-winning singer Burna Boy.
The duo, once known for their strong bond, frequently appeared together at shows and private events. Their 2019 collaboration on “Killin Dem”—from Burna Boy’s African Giant album—became one of the biggest Afrobeats hits of that year. However, in recent years, fans have noticed growing tension between the two, as they no longer follow each other on social media.
With Zlatan set to release his highly anticipated third studio album, Symbol of Hope (SOH), on Friday, October 17, 2025, fresh details have emerged about what caused their fallout.
According to Zlatan, their friendship began to decline shortly after he welcomed his first child, Shiloh Toluwalase, on March 29, 2020, with his partner Davita Lamai. The rapper revealed that Burna Boy’s reaction to the news was far from supportive.
“I told @burnaboygram that my girl had a child. Instead of congratulating me, he asked if I knew what I was doing,” Zlatan shared on Instagram.
The unexpected response reportedly created emotional distance between the two, eventually leading to the quiet collapse of their friendship.
In recent times, Zlatan has grown closer to Davido, who has openly supported his music career and appeared with him at several public events.
