Tragedy in Abuja: 45-Year-Old Man Dies After Ingesting Suspected Poison

A 45-year-old man, identified as Ambrose Mkpati, has passed away in the Kubwa area of Abuja after reportedly ingesting a poisonous substance on Sunday, October 12, 2025.

The incident occurred in the Topland Community, Gbazango, Kubwa, within the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

According to reports by security analyst Zagazola Makama, the deceased’s niece, Ms. Gania Karim, said she received a distress call around 11:02 p.m. alerting her that Mr. Mkpati, a national of the Benin Republic, had ingested an unidentified substance and was experiencing severe complications.

Neighbors and local residents quickly intervened, rushing him to the Kubwa General Hospital, where medical personnel confirmed his death shortly after arrival. His remains have since been deposited at the hospital’s mortuary for preservation and an expected autopsy.

Authorities reportedly recovered a bottle of the suspected poisonous substance from the scene. Police investigators have since launched an inquiry to determine the circumstances leading to the incident and whether any foul play was involved.
