It’s been a whirlwind year for Selena Gomez. From tying the knot with music producer Benny Blanco to bidding farewell to the show that launched her career, Wizards of Waverly Place, the 33-year-old singer and actress is now opening up about her next big dream — becoming a mother.
On October 9, Gomez shared an emotional Instagram Story reflecting on her journey and future hopes. Posting a touching moment from the Wizards Beyond Waverly Place sequel series, where her character Alex Russo is revealed to be the mother of Billie Russo (played by Janice LeAnn Brown), Gomez wrote:
“Alex Russo is a mommy. Hopefully one day that’ll be me,”
accompanied by a heartfelt emoji that captured her excitement.
Fans have long known that motherhood has been close to Selena’s heart. In a past conversation with Jay Shetty, she opened up about her love for children and her desire to start a family someday:
“I don’t know what will happen, obviously, but I love children. I love making [children] laugh — they’re just so sweet. So absolutely, when that day comes, I’m so excited for it.”
Benny Blanco, who was part of the conversation, shared similar feelings, expressing his fondness for kids — a moment that melted fans’ hearts and sparked dreams of what their future family might look like.
On the Work Front
The Wizards Beyond Waverly Place sequel’s season two is currently streaming, with Selena reprising her beloved role as Alex Russo for two episodes. However, her latest appearance appears to mark the end of her journey with the series — at least for now. While there’s been no official word on her return, the closure of her character’s story arc suggests that Alex’s magical chapter may have reached its conclusion.
