Pastor’s Wife Abandons Husband, Five Children After U.S. Trip Viral Story Sparks Debate Online

A Nigerian pastor has reportedly been left heartbroken after his wife, who is also a pastor, allegedly abandoned him and their five children following a sponsored trip to the United States for a church program.

The story, which has gone viral on social media, was shared in a video posted on X (formerly Twitter) by user @ChukErice. In the clip, the unnamed pastor recounted how he sponsored his wife’s trip to the U.S. in 2016 to represent him at a church event.

According to his account, the woman returned to Nigeria later that year but had been granted a two-year visiting visa by U.S. authorities. Upon her return, the pastor said his wife began acting differently and frequently complained that “Nigeria now felt somehow” to her.

By 2017, she allegedly told her husband she wanted to return to the U.S. to “complete her visa.” Out of love and support, he sold his car to finance her second trip. However, since her departure, the woman has reportedly cut off all contact with him and their five children.

The pastor revealed that they had been married for 23 years before her disappearance, and that all efforts to reach her have failed.

The video has sparked widespread reactions online, with many Nigerians expressing mixed feelings. While some sympathized with the pastor’s emotional ordeal, others described the situation as a cautionary tale about trust and financial decisions in relationships.

As of press time, the identities of the couple have not been independently verified, and no official statement has been released by the church or relevant authorities.
