Nollywood Production Manager Anierobi “Nwa South” Courage Arrested for Assaulting Makeup Head on Film Set
Nollywood production manager and casting director, Anierobi “Nwa South” Courage, has been arrested for allegedly assaulting Mary Eze, the head of makeup artistes, on the set of Caddilly Production’s “Lagos to Opulence” in Lagos State.
The incident, which took place on October 28, 2025, was captured in a viral video shared by filmmaker Stanley Ontop. The footage showed Courage violently pushing Eze onto a chair, beating her, tearing her clothes, and holding her by the neck as crew members intervened.
Confirming the arrest, the Nigeria Film Crew Community (NFCC) strongly condemned the assault, describing Courage’s behaviour as “violent and animalistic.”
“On the 28th of October, 2025, on the set of Caddilly Production’s Lagos to Opulence, a production manager named Anierobi Courage, aka Nwa South, physically and violently assaulted the head of makeup, Mary Chizzy Eze, for speaking up against ill and unequal treatment among the crew,” the NFCC said in an official statement.
The organization added that Eze has since received medical attention, emphasizing that violence of any form is unacceptable in the industry.
“The role of a Production Manager is to ensure the smooth running of production and the welfare, safety, and comfort of cast and crew. A good production manager protects his team — not harms them. This individual chose to do the opposite, turning violent and animalistic against the very people he was responsible for managing.”
The NFCC also urged major guilds and associations, including AMP, AMPMAN, and ITPAN, to blacklist Courage and take disciplinary action.
Additionally, the group highlighted poor working conditions on the set, alleging that 15 female crew members were lodged in one room, calling it a “disregard for human dignity.”
“Violence has no place in our industry. Respect and safety are not negotiable,” the NFCC stated.
