Love Triangle Ends in Double Murder: Pregnant Woman Killed by Ex-Partner, Husband Fatally Stabs Attacker in Delhi

A tragic incident unfolded in Delhi’s Nabi Karim area on Saturday night, as a confrontation rooted in a love triangle ended in a double murder.

Police confirmed that a 22-year-old pregnant woman, identified as Shalini, was stabbed to death by her former live-in partner, Aashu alias Shailendra (34). In a violent turn of events, Shalini’s husband, Aakash, allegedly overpowered Aashu and stabbed him to death with the same knife.

According to Deputy Commissioner of Police (Central) Nidhin Valsan, the case appears to be a crime of passion driven by jealousy and personal enmity.

The incident occurred around 10:15 p.m. on Saturday near Qutub Road in the Nabi Karim area.

Preliminary investigations revealed that Aakash and Shalini, who had been married and shared two children, were recently attempting to reconcile their relationship after a brief separation.

During their estrangement, Shalini had reportedly been in a live-in relationship with Aashu outside Delhi. However, she later returned to Aakash, which allegedly enraged Aashu, who is believed to have claimed paternity of her current pregnancy.

On the night of the incident, Aakash and Shalini had gone to visit her mother, Sheila, when Aashu allegedly confronted them at the location.

According to police reports, Aashu first attacked Aakash with a knife, but Aakash managed to evade the blows. Aashu then turned on Shalini, who was seated in an e-rickshaw nearby, and stabbed her multiple times.

Seeing his wife being attacked, Aakash intervened and was also injured in the struggle. During the altercation, he managed to wrestle the knife from Aashu and stabbed him repeatedly, fatally wounding him.

All three individuals were rushed to Lady Hardinge Medical College (LHMC) Hospital by Shalini’s brother, Rohit.
Doctors declared both Shalini and Aashu dead on arrival, while Aakash is currently receiving treatment for stab injuries.

Authorities revealed that Aashu was a known offender, described as a “bad character” in police records of the Nabi Karim Police Station, with multiple criminal cases in his history.

Aakash also has three prior criminal cases registered against him, though details of those cases are yet to be disclosed.

An FIR has been registered based on the statement of Shalini’s mother, Sheila, under Sections 103(1) (murder) and 109(1) (attempt to murder) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).

“It appears to be a case arising from personal enmity and relationship disputes. The investigation is underway, and all aspects are being probed,” said DCP Nidhin Valsan.

Police are now working to establish the exact sequence of events leading to the fatal confrontation and to verify claims surrounding Shalini’s pregnancy and her relationship with Aashu.

Sources indicate that Shalini and Aakash had been married for several years and shared two children. After a period of marital discord, she moved in with Aashu, with whom she reportedly lived for several months.

When she decided to return to her husband, Aashu allegedly felt betrayed and made repeated attempts to contact her — efforts that ultimately culminated in Saturday night’s deadly confrontation.

Residents of the Nabi Karim locality described the event as shocking and deeply tragic, as both the victim and the attacker lost their lives in the same violent episode.

Police have assured that a thorough forensic analysis and witness questioning are underway to reconstruct the events and confirm whether premeditation or provocation led to the killings.
