Nollywood actress Kemi Afolabi has issued a strong warning to individuals in relationships following the presidential pardon and release of convicted murderer Maryam Sanda.
Recall that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu granted Sanda a state pardon in October 2025. Sanda was convicted in 2017 for stabbing her husband, Bilyaminu Mohammed Bello, to death at their home in Abuja.
Reacting to the news, Afolabi took to her Instagram story to urge her followers to prioritize their safety and peace of mind over toxic or abusive relationships.
“Do not allow anyone to take your life. Guard it with all your being!!
Be it in marriage, friendship, courtship, or any form of relationship,” she wrote.
Her post quickly went viral, sparking widespread discussions on social media about self-worth, emotional abuse, and the importance of setting healthy boundaries in relationships.
Many fans and fellow celebrities echoed Afolabi’s sentiment, emphasizing that no relationship—romantic or otherwise—is worth sacrificing one’s life or peace for.
