Human rights activist and politician, Omoyele Sowore, has raised alarm over the killing of more than 20 people in a recent attack on a village in Kwara State.
Speaking during an interview on TV Platinum, Sowore disclosed that among the victims was the Baale, the traditional ruler and head of the community. He said the disturbing incident highlights the worsening state of insecurity in rural communities across Nigeria’s Middle Belt region.
“Yesterday, I saw a video that broke my heart, in Kwara State when a whole village had over 20 people including the village leader known as Baale mauled down,” Sowore lamented.
According to him, he had personally watched footage of the attack, which he described as devastating.
The killings add to the growing list of violent assaults targeting remote villages, where residents often remain vulnerable due to limited security presence and slow emergency response.
