The Kwara State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of five suspected kidnappers and the rescue of two abducted victims in a successful joint operation with local security outfits in Idofin Igbana, Oke-Ero Local Government Area.
According to police authorities, the incident began on August 30 at about 7:45 p.m., when three women — Ahmed Aminat, Mohammed Habibat, and Isah Aminat — were abducted in the Oke-Ile area of Idofin Igbana.
Following distress calls from residents, security operatives, working alongside the Local Government Security Initiative, launched a coordinated search operation. Their efforts led them to Ago Alu Fulani camp along the Idofin/Olla road, where the kidnappers were hiding with their captives.
On sighting the advancing team, the suspects fled into the bush, abandoning two of the victims while escaping with the third, Ahmed Aminat.
The operation resulted in the arrest of five suspects identified as:
- Abubakar Seriki Juli
- Mohammadu Bello
- Abubakar Sodiq
- Abubakar Bako
- Another Mohammadu Bello
All the suspects are residents of Idofin Aiyekale. One of the rescued victims has reportedly identified two of them as active members of the gang behind the abduction.
Police say efforts are ongoing to secure the release of the remaining victim and to track down other fleeing accomplices connected to the crime.
The Kwara State Command reassured residents of its commitment to tackling insecurity and urged communities to continue working closely with law enforcement by providing timely information.
