Mob Burns Suspected Motorcycle Thief to Death in Makurdi

A tragic incident occurred in Makurdi, Benue State, on Tuesday, September 2, 2025, when a suspected motorcycle thief was lynched and set ablaze by an angry mob.

The incident reportedly took place in the early hours of the morning around the Railway Quarters area of Makurdi. Eyewitnesses said the suspect allegedly attempted to snatch a commercial motorcycle from its owner.

The victim’s cries for help alerted nearby residents, who quickly mobilized and gave chase. The suspect was caught after a brief pursuit, beaten severely by the crowd, and later set on fire.
