A woman, Rihanat Abdulsalam, has told an Ilorin Area Court that she has never met her husband’s family since their marriage, as she seeks to dissolve the union.
Appearing before the Centre-Igboro Area Court in Ilorin on Tuesday, Abdulsalam narrated that her husband, Saheed Adegunju, repeatedly refused to introduce her to his family members despite her constant pleas.
“He gives excuses whenever I ask him to take me to his family,” she told the court. “It continued until I gave birth to our child.”
She further alleged that Adegunju had abandoned his duties both as a father and a husband, leaving her to shoulder responsibilities alone.
Abdulsalam prayed the court to grant her a divorce, custody of their child, and an order for her Divorce-Seeking Wife Tells Ilorin Court She Has Never Met Husband’s Family husband to pay ₦30,000 monthly as child maintenance.
Presiding Judge, Idris Etsu, ordered that court processes be served on Adegunju again. He stressed that the matter would proceed on the next adjourned date, whether the respondent appears in court or not.
The case was adjourned to September 30, 2025, for hearing.
