Anambra Police Seek Public Help to Find Toddler Kidnapped by Unidentified Woman

The Anambra State Police Command has launched a manhunt for an unidentified woman who abducted a three-year-old boy in Obosi, Idemili North Local Government Area, and is appealing to the public for assistance in locating the missing child.

According to a press statement released on Monday, September 29, 2025, by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, the child, identified as Master Chimaobi Nwadike, was taken away on Friday, September 26, while in the custody of his mother.

Ikenga explained that preliminary investigations revealed that the unidentified woman approached the child’s mother before luring the boy away under unclear circumstances. The child has not been seen since.

“The Anambra State Police Command seeks assistance from members of the public, especially residents of Anambra State, regarding a case of child stealing that occurred on September 26, 2025, at Obosi, Idemili North LGA. Preliminary information revealed that the victim, Master Chimaobi Nwadike, a three-year-old boy, was stolen by an unidentified woman while in the custody of his mother,” the statement read.

The police have urged anyone with useful information about the whereabouts of the child or the suspect to immediately report to the nearest police station or call the Command’s emergency numbers.

SP Ikenga reassured residents that security operatives are working tirelessly to trace the suspect and recover the child. He also appealed to communities across the state to remain vigilant and to promptly report suspicious movements or persons.

The case has stirred widespread concern among residents, with many calling for tighter security around schools, markets, and residential areas to prevent further incidents of child abduction.

Meanwhile, the family of Master Chimaobi has pleaded with members of the public to come forward with any information that could help reunite them with their son.
