The family of three-year-old Rohan Ajuwon has been thrown into anguish after the little boy was abducted on August 28, 2025, while playing football outside his home in Matogun, Ogun State.
Rohan’s father, Mr. Salmon Ajuwon, a businessman and father of two, recounted the heartbreaking events that led to his son’s disappearance.
According to him, on the day of the incident around 3 p.m., Rohan had been feeling unwell and stayed at home with him. Later, while Ajuwon stepped out to relax at a local draft-spot a few houses away, Rohan remained with his elder sister and other children, playing outside their compound.
Moments later, Ajuwon spotted his son near the spot, walking barefoot. He recalled asking the boy to return home and wear his slippers. Tragically, that was the last time he saw him.
When it became clear the boy was missing, frantic efforts to locate him began immediately. The family reported the case to three different police stations, but none could provide information about a missing child despite receiving the boy’s details. Community leaders, including the Baale of Matogun, were alerted, and posters with Rohan’s photo were circulated by local CDC and CDA groups, as well as across social media platforms.
More than two weeks later, there has still been no ransom demand, no direct contact, and no credible lead a development that has deepened suspicions that the incident was deliberate.
Two men have so far been linked to the case. The first, an elderly man, was allegedly pointed out by Rohan days before his disappearance. The second, a local man with unstable employment and alleged involvement in selling Indian hemp, was also questioned by police. While the elderly man was eventually released, investigations around the second suspect are said to be ongoing.
For the Ajuwon family, the pain is unbearable. Rohan’s seven-year-old sister, who has been part of the search efforts, is emotionally distraught. His parents say they continue to lean on prayers and public support, appealing to authorities and anyone with information to help bring their child home safely.
