Popular Yoruba Nollywood Actress Omotola Odunsi Is Dead

          

The Nigerian film industry is in mourning following the death of Yoruba Nollywood actress Omotola Odunsi, whose passing was confirmed by colleagues on Thursday.

The actress, best known for her role in the Yoruba-language film Lisabi alongside popular actor Lateef Adedimeji, was announced dead by fellow actress Bakare Zainab via a post on social media.

“Goodnight. Omotola rest well,” Zainab wrote in a solemn tribute. However, the cause of death has not yet been made public.

The news has triggered a wave of grief and tributes across the Nollywood community and among fans of Yoruba cinema. One of the most emotional reactions came from actress Ashabi, the mother of singer Portable’s child, who took to Instagram to mourn Omotola’s sudden passing.

In her post, Ashabi expressed disbelief and recalled her last encounter with the late actress earlier this year during the filming of a movie titled Deputy.

“Omoh dis one shock me oooo aunty Tola. You’re one of the best actors I’m rooting for. Saw you earlier this year when I was shooting Deputy and we promised to feature each other in our next project,” she wrote.

Ashabi further revealed that Omotola had often offered her emotional support and encouragement through late-night chats, adding:

“I remember nights you do chat to give me hope and advice. Most of your wishes we talked about didn’t even come true. GOD, we can’t question you oooo. Death is deep.”

Fans and fellow industry colleagues have also begun posting tributes online, praising Omotola for her dedication, talent, and warmth both on and off set.

As of the time of this report, funeral arrangements have not been announced, and the family is yet to issue an official statement.

Lagos Woman Missing After Message About Wrong Car
