Six law students from the Yola Campus who were abducted on July 26, 2025, have been rescued by the Benue State Police Command.
The students were reportedly kidnapped while traveling from Anambra State to Adamawa State. The incident occurred late Saturday evening along the volatile Wukari–Benue route, a corridor known for its security challenges.
In a statement issued on Friday, the Benue State Police Public Relations Officer, Edet Udeme, confirmed the rescue and said the victims have been safely reunited with their families.
“Police authorities confirmed the rescue, assuring the public of their commitment to ensuring the safety of lives and property,” Udeme stated.
The police did not disclose whether any ransom was paid or if arrests had been made in connection with the abduction. However, the statement emphasized that operations are ongoing to secure the area and prevent further incidents.
The rescue comes amid growing concerns over the safety of road travel across parts of Nigeria, especially in areas prone to banditry and kidnapping.
