A 29-year-old woman has been stabbed to death inside her home in Greenwich, London, sparking a murder investigation.
Police and emergency crews rushed to Trafalgar Road on Wednesday after receiving reports of a stabbing. Paramedics from the London Ambulance Service, along with London’s Air Ambulance, attempted to save the woman’s life, but she tragically died from her injuries at the scene.
A 33-year-old man was arrested at the property on suspicion of murder. Police confirmed that he remains in hospital with life-threatening injuries. Officers believe he was known to the victim.
The Metropolitan Police said the victim has not yet been formally identified, though a post-mortem examination has already been carried out.
Detective Inspector Mark Franklin, who is leading the investigation, offered condolences to the victim’s loved ones:
“Our thoughts are with the victim's family, who at this unimaginably difficult time are being supported by specialist officers.
We know this incident will cause great concern within the community. While we are confident this is an isolated incident, residents will see an increased police presence in the area.”
Detectives have urged anyone with information about the incident to contact police on 101 quoting 8218/27AUG, or to reach out anonymously via Crimestoppers.
This tragedy comes just weeks after another fatal stabbing in north London. On June 17, 2025, a 46-year-old woman was found dead with knife wounds inside a house on Dumont Road, Stoke Newington. Emergency crews had initially been called to reports of a suspected gas explosion, but instead discovered a horrific crime scene.
In that case, a 44-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of murder after being found with slash wounds. Two children, aged 7 and 9, were also taken to hospital as a precaution.
The two back-to-back cases have left Londoners shaken, raising urgent concerns about domestic violence and knife crime in the capital. Police are working to reassure residents with increased patrols while investigations continue.
