Dozens of members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) staged a protest on Monday at the Lagos State House of Assembly complex in Alausa, Ikeja, demanding the immediate removal of the party’s state chairman, Pastor Cornelius Ojelabi.
The protesters, said to have come from all 57 Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs) across the state, carried placards bearing inscriptions such as “Ojelabi Must Go”, “We Demand New Leadership”, and “Restructure APC Now”. Their message was clear: a call for a change in the state party’s leadership.
The aggrieved party members expressed frustration with what they described as stagnation and a lack of inclusive leadership under Ojelabi’s tenure. They urged the party's national leadership to intervene ahead of key political activities in the state.
A heavy presence of police and security personnel was deployed to the Assembly complex to maintain order and ensure the demonstration remained peaceful.
As of press time, neither the Lagos State APC executive nor the leadership of the State House of Assembly had issued an official statement in response to the protest.
The development marks a significant sign of internal dissent within the ruling party in Lagos, raising questions about party unity ahead of upcoming electoral events.
