Police Recover Unexploded Military Device in Damaturu

Police authorities in Yobe State have confirmed the recovery of an unexploded military-grade explosive device discovered near the NTA Damaturu station, along Potiskum Road.

The device was found at approximately 6:15 p.m. on Monday, June 30, according to security analyst Zagazola Makama, who disclosed the development via a post on social media platform X.

Following the report, the Bomb Disposal Unit of the Nigeria Police was immediately dispatched to the scene. Police sources revealed that the team identified the object as a military ordnance and recovered it using established safety protocols.

“The device was technically recovered and taken for controlled demolition,” one source stated.

Preliminary investigations suggest that the explosive may have been left behind by scavengers after it became exposed in the area.

Authorities confirmed that no injuries or property damage occurred during the operation. The site has since been secured, and surveillance efforts are ongoing to ensure the continued safety of residents.
