A British nurse has shared her emotional account of comforting a dying Scottish gangster, Ross Monaghan, after he was shot in a brutal double murder on the Costa del Sol. The incident occurred at Monaghans bar in Fuengirola, Spain, on Saturday, around 11:30 pm, just as the Champions League final concluded.
The nurse, who wishes to remain anonymous, was enjoying a drink with her partner at a nearby bar when the masked assailant fatally shot Monaghan and Eddie Lyons Jnr. She described how she rushed to assist upon hearing the gunfire and found Lyons Jnr lying dead on the terrace with bullet wounds to his chest and abdomen. Monaghan, who had a single gunshot wound to his chest, was still alive but struggling to breathe.
The nurse recounted the harrowing scene, saying, "There was nothing I could do, he wasn't bleeding from his mouth so I just held his hand, stroked his hair and waited for the emergency services." Armed officers quickly arrived and attempted to revive Monaghan. The nurse's account highlights the tragic events that unfolded on that night, which were also captured on graphic footage and CCTV.
Spanish police are investigating the double shooting, with no arrests made yet. Monaghan, a suspect in a 2010 Glasgow murder, had been living in Spain since an attempt on his life in 2017. The investigation is ongoing, with authorities working to determine the motive behind the brutal attack.
