In a horrifying incident in Delhi’s Narela area, a man allegedly murdered his 10-year-old son on Tuesday afternoon in what police believe was a revenge act against his wife, who had separated from him due to his addiction and abusive behavior.
According to police, the accused, identified as Narender, called his wife Komal shortly after the incident and confessed to killing their younger son. Komal immediately alerted the police control room, prompting officers from Narela police station to launch an investigation.
Police said the child was abducted while returning home from school. “The boy was lured on the pretext of being given ice cream and taken to an undisclosed location, where he was strangled,” said a senior police officer. The child’s body was later recovered, bearing visible injury marks on the neck.
Preliminary investigations reveal that the couple had frequent quarrels due to Narender’s drug and alcohol addiction. Komal, who had reportedly suffered physical abuse, moved out with her two children and began living separately in Om Vihar Colony. Narender had repeatedly pleaded with her to return, often threatening her when she refused.
"During the phone call to Komal, Narender allegedly said he killed their son because she refused to come back to him," the officer added.
Police have registered a case under Section 103 (murder) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) at the Narela police station. A manhunt is underway to locate and arrest the accused.
This was the second murder reported in Narela on the same day. Earlier, a 27-year-old woman died after being allegedly pushed from the sixth floor of a building by a man, highlighting a disturbing spate of violence in the locality.
Further investigation is ongoing.
