Over 150 villagers abducted from multiple communities in Zamfara State are reportedly being held in dire conditions by armed bandits, who are now calling for negotiations with the Nigerian government.
A disturbing video shared online on Tuesday by security analyst Bakatsine shows the captives — including men, women, and children — chained, tied up, and visibly malnourished. The victims were said to have been taken from villages including Madaro, Maguru, Kyambarawa, Janbako, and others.
The video, originally posted on TikTok by an individual identifying himself as “Ibrahim Musa 099”, shows the hostages surrounded by armed men in a forested area. Several children can be seen crying as parents plead for food, medicine, and rescue.
“150+ villagers from Madaro, Maguru, Kyambarawa, Janbako and others all in Zamfara, are in bandits' captivity. Chained, tied, starving and sick,” Bakatsine wrote on X.
The individual in the video, allegedly a bandit leader, used the footage to appeal to authorities, requesting dialogue with the government. The video has since circulated widely on social media, prompting outrage and renewed calls for action.
As of Tuesday morning, Nigerian security agencies and government officials have not issued an official statement regarding the abductions.
Zamfara State, located in Nigeria’s northwest, has faced repeated attacks from armed groups over the past several years, with rural communities often targeted for mass kidnappings and extortion.
