Tragedy in Lamu: Soldier Kills Girlfriend and Her Child Before Taking Own Life

A peaceful school community in Lamu Central, Kenya, is in deep mourning after a horrific shooting involving a female teacher, her young daughter, and a soldier believed to be her boyfriend. The victim, identified as Sheila Mokaya, a teacher at Mukunguni Junior Secondary School, and her 5-year-old daughter were shot by the soldier, who then turned the gun on himself, ending his own life. 

The devastating event has left residents in disbelief, with many struggling to come to terms with the sudden loss of three lives. Grief and outrage have spread through the region, with community members, educators, and local leaders expressing concern over the rising cases of domestic-related violence and the tragic toll it continues to take. 

At this stage, investigators have yet to uncover what prompted the soldier’s deadly outburst. The motive remains unclear, but authorities have launched a full inquiry into the matter. The police are working to piece together the events leading up to the tragic incident and determine the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
