A secondary school teacher, Mallam Mohammed Abubakar Tayi, has been brutally murdered in his home in Mokwa, Niger State, just a day after celebrating Eid with his family. The incident occurred in the early hours of Saturday, June 7, 2025, at the teacher's residence along Abattoir Road in Mokwa town.
According to local accounts, unknown assailants attacked Mallam Mohammed in his home, killed him, and made away with his motorcycle. Residents who saw him during the Eid celebration described him as cheerful and in good health. "He was full of life yesterday, celebrating with his family and greeting neighbours. We woke up today to hear he's been killed," said a grieving resident.
The late teacher was known for his service in the local education sector, having taught at the Government Day Secondary School in Kpege, which was later renamed Bokani Secondary School. His death has sent shockwaves through the community, and many are still trying to come to terms with the loss.
At the time of reporting, there has been no official statement from security agencies regarding the murder, and no arrests have been made. The community is eagerly awaiting justice for the slain teacher.
