The Anambra State Police Command has arrested a 24-year-old man, Muanaenye Victor, for allegedly kidnapping his friend and collecting a ransom of ₦5.3 million. Victor reportedly lured his friend into a kidnapping trap set by his criminal gang in Uli, Ihiala Local Government Area.
According to police investigations, Victor deceived his friend into following him to visit someone, only to hand him over to the gang. The gang then demanded a ransom, which they collected in dollars equivalent to ₦5.3 million before releasing the victim.
The spokesperson for the Anambra State Police Command, DSP Tochukwu Ikenga, confirmed the arrest and stated that Victor is cooperating with investigators. Victor is providing leads to help apprehend his accomplices, and the police are working to bring the perpetrators to justice.
