A young woman from Ghana's Ashanti Region, Selina Adu Gyamfi, is seeking help to locate a Chinese national, Leon, who impregnated her and then vanished. Selina, a resident of Abodom in the Asante Bekwai Municipality, recounted her emotional experience in an interview with Nyira FM.
According to Selina, Leon was part of a group of Chinese nationals involved in illegal mining, locally referred to as galamsey, in the area. Their relationship began while Leon was working in Bekwai and quickly became serious. Selina described the relationship as affectionate and financially supportive, with Leon providing her with regular financial support.
However, when the miners left town, Selina discovered she was pregnant. She contacted Leon, who initially expressed happiness but soon cut off all communication. Despite reporting the matter to the local police, which led to Leon's brief arrest, he was released and has not been seen since.
Selina's appeal for help has sparked public sympathy and renewed concerns over the lack of accountability among some foreign nationals involved in illegal mining activities in Ghana. She is struggling to take care of her child alone and is seeking assistance to locate Leon.
