Benue Killings: Activist Shares Horrifying Account of Destruction

Social commentator and activist Otse Martins, popularly known as VeryDarkMan (VDM), has expressed deep anguish over the scale of destruction and human suffering in Benue State. He witnessed the aftermath of the recent killings in Yeluwata, Guma Local Government Area, where over 200 people were reportedly massacred by armed herders.

VDM joined a protest led by angry youths in Makurdi, who demanded immediate action from the Federal Government and security agencies to end the bloodshed and protect vulnerable communities. The protesters were visibly shaken and frustrated by the continuous killings, displacement, and destruction in the state.

VDM shared a harrowing account of the destruction he witnessed, including entire households wiped out, bodies of children, women, and the elderly among the ruins, and crops and food stores set ablaze. He described the scene as "very disturbing" and said he had never seen anything like it in his life.
