A devastating attack occurred on Saturday evening in Dole Moriki village, Zamfara State, when heavily armed bandits stormed a mosque during the Isha (night) prayers. The sudden and violent assault has left the local community in shock and fear.
According to eyewitnesses, the attackers opened fire on the worshippers without warning, causing chaos and devastation inside the sacred space. One individual was confirmed dead on the spot, while two others suffered various degrees of injuries. The gunmen managed to escape after carrying out the assault, leaving behind a scene of sorrow and panic.
Security personnel were quickly dispatched to the village to restore order and prevent further violence. The injured victims, along with the deceased, were transported to the General Hospital in Moriki, where medical professionals began treatment for the wounded individuals. The body of the person who lost their life was later released to their family in accordance with Islamic burial customs.
This incident has heightened concerns about the growing insecurity in parts of Zamfara State, where rural communities have increasingly become targets for banditry and violent attacks.
