Tragedy in Wisconsin: Nigerian Dentist Shot Dead by Neighbor Over Loud Music

A promising life was tragically cut short in Wisconsin on April 19, 2025, when Nigerian dentist Akintunde Bowden lost his life in a fatal encounter with his neighbor. The incident occurred after Mr. Bowden reportedly asked his neighbor, Keionna McGowan, to lower the volume of her music.

According to reports, Akintunde Bowden was at his residence watching a basketball game when loud music emanating from Ms. McGowan's apartment became disruptive. In an attempt to resolve the issue, Mr. Bowden went to her apartment and requested that she turn the music down.

Details from Ms. McGowan suggest that Mr. Bowden allegedly banged on her door. She stated that the banging made her feel afraid. While she agreed to lower the music, the situation escalated when Mr. Bowden reportedly started kicking her door.

Fearing he might break in, Ms. McGowan, in what she claims was a moment of fear, discharged her firearm, hitting Mr. Bowden once in the stomach. He succumbed to the injury at the scene of the altercation.

Immediately after the shooting, Ms. McGowan reportedly called for help, and law enforcement officers arrived to find Mr. Bowden deceased. An autopsy revealed the severity of the gunshot wound, indicating that it had pierced multiple vital organs.

The legal ramifications for Ms. McGowan are significant. If convicted, she could face up to 25 years of imprisonment for the shooting, with an additional potential 5 years for the possession of a dangerous weapon, or a fine of $100,000.

This tragic incident has left a community in shock and mourning the loss of Akintunde Bowden, who was reportedly engaged and looking forward to getting married later this year.

The circumstances surrounding this unfortunate event serve as a stark reminder of how quickly disputes can escalate with devastating consequences.
