A disturbing video has emerged showing the final moments of Kelechi, a 39-year-old Nigerian man from Anambra State, who died following a violent encounter with Swiss police in Lausanne, Switzerland. The incident has sparked widespread protests and renewed concerns about systemic racial bias and excessive force by law enforcement.
According to reports, police approached Kelechi in central Lausanne as part of a routine check, suspecting possible drug-related activity. After a struggle, Kelechi was apprehended and taken to a police station, where he became unwell and died despite emergency resuscitation efforts.
The Vaud regional Public Prosecutor's Office has launched a criminal investigation into the circumstances surrounding Kelechi's death. An autopsy has been ordered, and forensic pathologists are assisting with the investigation.
