A heart-wrenching true crime story is set to air on Sunday's episode of "Killer Britain with Dermot Murnaghan" on the Crime+Investigation channel. The episode recounts the murder of Kelly Morgan, who was strangled to death by her husband George Morgan in November 2018.
The day of the murder started like any other, with Kelly and George attending a school assembly where their children were performing. However, hours later, Kelly's lifeless body was found by police in their Avonmouth home, with ligature marks on her neck. A chilling note left on the stairs read:
"Please don’t let the little ones go into the front room... No more suffering. I’m sorry, got pushed too far this time. Daddy loves you."
Detectives were quick to suspect George, but unbeknownst to them, he was already being pursued by police in Cumbria for petrol theft and dangerous driving. He was eventually arrested and charged with Kelly's murder.
As the investigation progressed, it became clear that Kelly had been trapped in a violent and controlling relationship. Her family had noticed red flags early on, but the full extent of the abuse only became apparent after her death. Kelly's medical records revealed a series of injuries, and her children told investigators about previous incidents of strangulation.
George Morgan was sentenced to life in prison after changing his plea to guilty. Kelly's parents, Paul and Glynnis, were left to care for their grandchildren, who struggle to cope with the loss of their mother. In their victim impact statement, they described the pain of trusting George, who they considered a part of their family, and the ongoing struggle to trust others.
