Former Big Brother Naija reality show star, Chukwuemeka Okoye, aka Frodd, has bravely shared his traumatic experience of being molested as a child by different house helps and a neighbor. In a heartfelt revelation, Frodd disclosed that he was physically molested from ages 5 to 9, except by his nanny, Aunty Chinenye, who nurtured him in his baby stage.
Frodd explained that he couldn't confide in his parents about the abuse because they didn't have an open relationship. "We couldn't speak then because parents didn't give us that relationship and they never read the room," he wrote on his X handle. This silence allowed the abuse to continue, leaving deep emotional scars.
Frodd's revelation comes on the heels of Speed Darlington's recent rape admission, which he later claimed was a prank. Frodd urged parents to be vigilant about their children's behavior around adult members of the opposite sex. "When your little boy or girl starts becoming attracted or irritated by a big aunty or uncle (watch those aunty's well)," he cautioned.
By sharing his story, Frodd joins a growing list of survivors who are speaking out against childhood abuse. Like rapper Common, who revealed his own experience with molestation in his memoir "Let Love Have the Last Word: A Memoir," Frodd hopes to inspire others to share their stories and begin the healing process.
Sharing experiences of childhood trauma can be empowering, allowing survivors to reclaim control over their lives and emotions. It also helps others understand the complexity of recovery and the importance of support systems. By speaking out, Frodd and other survivors aim to create a safer and more supportive environment for children and survivors alike.
