Nigerian street-hop artist Habeeb Olalomi Okikiola, popularly known as Portable, has been sentenced to three months in prison by a Chief Magistrate Court in Ifo, Ogun State. The court found him guilty on two counts: assault and theft of musical equipment.
The charges stem from an incident on November 18, 2022, in Okeosa, Ilogbo, where Portable was accused of beating a man named Osimosu Emmanuel and stealing studio equipment, including a Yamaha H55 monitor, Studio 2 interface cable, and an AKG P420 condenser mic.
Chief Magistrate Babajide Ilo ruled that Portable would serve one month in prison or pay a ₦10,000 fine for the assault charge, and two months or ₦20,000 for the theft charge. In total, the singer can avoid jail time by paying a ₦30,000 fine.
The case adds to a string of past legal issues involving the artist, who has frequently made headlines for controversial behavior both online and offline.
