Daughter of Murdered Paramedic Seeks Justice in South Carolina

The daughter of Phonesia Machado-Fore, a paramedic who was murdered in Dillon County, South Carolina, is seeking justice for her mother's death. Jaremy Smith, the accused killer, has been sentenced to life in federal prison without parole for killing a New Mexico state trooper, but he still faces 17 state charges related to Machado-Fore's murder.

Faith Fore, Machado-Fore's 19-year-old daughter, remembers her mother as opinionated and dedicated to saving lives. She describes her world coming to a stop when her mother was reported missing and later found dead with a gunshot wound to the back of her head.

Fore is frustrated with the lack of answers from officials and feels that more investigation needs to be done to determine the motive and whether others were involved. She wants the same justice for her mother that the family of the New Mexico state trooper, Justin Hare, received.

"I lost my mom," Fore said. "My momma didn't even see me graduate at all. Can't help me through life anymore, can't guide me. I'm 19, I'm lost as hell." Fore is determined to keep her mother's name alive and ensure that she receives the justice she deserves.

News13 reached out to the 12th circuit solicitor Ed Clements for a statement on when Smith could be brought back to South Carolina to face charges. Clements agreed to an interview, and the community is eagerly awaiting updates on the case.
