TRCN Chairman Vows to Enhance Teacher Training, Digital Literacy in Nigeria

The Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria (TRCN) is set to undergo significant transformations under the leadership of its new Chairman, Mustapha Salihu. During a recent familiarization visit to the TRCN headquarters, Salihu emphasized the importance of teacher training and capacity building in Nigeria's educational development.

Salihu pledged to prioritize teacher training, licensing, and capacity-building initiatives, aiming to equip Nigerian teachers with modern pedagogical skills. He stressed that a well-trained teacher is the foundation of a strong educational system, and that continuous development is crucial.

The TRCN Chairman also highlighted the need for digital literacy among teachers, noting that Nigeria's education system must align with global trends. To achieve this, Salihu assured the TRCN management that necessary policies and reforms would be introduced to strengthen the Council's operations.

TRCN's Acting Registrar and Chief Executive, Dr. Stella-Maria Nwokeocha, welcomed Salihu and expressed confidence in his leadership. She reaffirmed TRCN's commitment to collaborating with the new Board Chairman to advance its mission of ensuring that only qualified and licensed teachers are allowed to practice in Nigeria.

As the TRCN embarks on this new chapter, its focus on teacher training, digital literacy, and capacity building is expected to have a positive impact on Nigeria's education system.
