The Tragic Ordeal of Yarden Bibas: A Story of Loss, Survival, and Advocacy

Man

In a harrowing account, Yarden Bibas, an Israeli who endured 15 months of captivity by Hamas, has revealed the psychological torment inflicted upon him following the brutal murder of his wife and two young sons.

The Bibas family's ordeal began on October 7, 2023, when Hamas militants attacked Kibbutz Nir Oz, abducting Yarden, his wife Shiri, and their sons, four-year-old Ariel and nine-month-old Kfir.

During his captivity, Yarden was subjected to cruel taunts by his captors. In an interview, he recounted, "They used to tell me, 'Oh, doesn't matter. You'll get a new wife. Get new kids. Better wife. Better kids.'"

Yarden's release came in February 2025 as part of a ceasefire agreement. Tragically, shortly after his release, Hamas returned the bodies of Shiri and their two sons in a grim exchange.

In the wake of his profound loss, Yarden has become an outspoken advocate for peace and the release of remaining hostages. He has appealed directly to President Donald Trump, stating, "I know he can help. I'm here because of Trump. I'm here only because of him. I think he's the only one who can stop this war again."

The Bibas family's tragic story has resonated deeply within Israel and internationally, symbolizing the devastating human cost of ongoing conflicts and underscoring the urgent need for peaceful resolutions.
