A shocking tale of family betrayal and deception has emerged, as a South Africa-based Nigerian, Bayo Salami, alleges that his family detained him against his will at an Islamic cleric's residence. Salami, a music promoter who has worked with top Nigerian artists like Davido, Wizkid, and Banky W, had returned to Nigeria after 23 years abroad to reclaim properties he had been financing.
Upon his return, Salami's family informed him that the properties were still under development, which he accepted without argument. However, when he announced his plan to return to South Africa, his family convinced him to visit an Alfa (Islamic cleric) for prayers, claiming it would bring him divine blessings.
Unbeknownst to Salami, this was a ruse to detain him. Upon arrival at the cleric's residence, he was forced into a room and locked up, where he found several others who had been detained for months in squalid conditions. Salami described the environment as "terrible," with detainees forced to follow a strict hierarchy and subjected to mistreatment.
Salami's family provided food, but he was forced to surrender his belongings, including a mat brought by his sister, to the leader of the detainees. When questioned about his detention, Salami's family cited his smoking habit as justification, which he dismissed as a flimsy excuse.
This disturbing incident highlights the importance of vigilance in family dealings, particularly when it comes to property and financial matters. Salami's ordeal serves as a cautionary tale about the dangers of family manipulation and exploitation.
