Man Charged After 16-Year-Old Gives Birth; Newborn Found in Dumpster

James Boothe, 45, has been indicted on multiple charges, including trafficking for commercial sex acts and aggravated statutory rape, after allegedly impregnating a 16-year-old girl. Authorities report that Boothe disposed of the newborn in a gas station dumpster following the girl's labor. The teenager informed police that she had been in a relationship with Boothe for three years.

Boothe was initially charged with abuse of a corpse, but further investigation led to additional charges, including promoting prostitution of a minor. Surveillance footage reportedly showed Boothe discarding a black plastic bag at the gas station, later confirmed to contain the baby's remains. He is currently held in Shelby County Jail on a $1.25 million bond.
