The incident occurred at about 9.30 pm on January 2, 2026, when the attackers reportedly stormed the residence of the victim and opened fire without warning. Residents of the community said the sudden attack caused panic as the assailants arrived under the cover of darkness.

The deceased was identified as Bla Abakar Maulud, while his wife, Maimuna Shaibu, aged 48, was abducted during the attack and taken to an unknown destination.

Security analyst Zagazola Makama disclosed the incident in a post on X, stating that Maulud was shot by the attackers and died from his injuries at the scene. The gunmen were said to have killed him before forcibly taking his wife and fleeing the area.

The incident was reported to the police in the early hours of January 3. Security operatives led by the Divisional Police Officer in Chibok later visited the scene to assess the situation and commence preliminary investigations.

Maulud was rushed to the General Hospital in Chibok, where a medical doctor confirmed his death. His body was later released to his family for burial in accordance with Islamic rites.

Security agencies have launched a search and rescue operation aimed at locating the abducted woman and bringing the perpetrators to justice. Investigations into the attack are ongoing.
