Gunmen Allegedly Attack Old Oyo National Park

Gunmen have reportedly attacked the Old Oyo National Park located in the Oke Ogun geopolitical zone of Oyo State, raising security concerns in the area.

According to reports, the attack occurred on Wednesday, with gunshots heard within the national park. Some fatalities were allegedly recorded during the incident, although the exact number of casualties had not been confirmed as of the time of filing this report.

The Public Relations Officer of the Oyo State Police Command, Olayinka Ayanlade, confirmed the development in a statement issued to journalists on Wednesday afternoon. He disclosed that police operatives and other security agencies had been mobilised to the scene following the attack.

Ayanlade said the Commissioner of Police in Oyo State, CP Femi Haruna, alongside other security chiefs, was on the way to the affected area to assess the situation and coordinate response efforts.

“Yes, there was an attack by yet to be identified men against personnel of the national park,” Ayanlade said. He added that the Commissioner of Police had deployed tactical teams, officers of the Mobile Police Force, and the Explosive Ordnance Disposal unit to the area to prevent further breakdown of law and order.

Security presence around the Old Oyo National Park has since been reinforced, while investigations are expected to commence to determine the identity of the attackers and the motive behind the assault.

Residents and visitors in surrounding communities have been urged to remain calm and cooperate with security agencies as efforts continue to restore normalcy.

Lagos Woman Missing After Message About Wrong Car
