The Ghana Police Service has arrested self styled prophet Evans Eshun, popularly known as Ebo Noah, following a controversial prophecy predicting catastrophic global flooding that allegedly caused public panic and financial exploitation.
According to police sources, Eshun was taken into custody on December 31, 2025, by the Ghana Police Service Special Cyber Vetting Team after videos of his alarming predictions went viral online.
In the widely circulated clips, the prophet warned that a devastating global flood would begin on December 25, 2025, urging followers to take urgent action. The messages reportedly triggered fear among his audience, with some followers allegedly seeking refuge in a so called ark and making financial donations for spiritual protection.
When the predicted date passed without incident, Eshun later claimed that God had postponed the disaster due to his prayers.
The police arrested him for allegedly causing fear and panic and for the publication of false information, offences punishable under Ghanaian law.
Public reaction online has been sharply divided. While many social media users condemned him as a fraudulent charlatan who exploited religious belief for personal gain, others defended him, describing the prophecy as a genuine, though mistaken, spiritual warning.
The incident has reignited debate around religious freedom, public order, and the dangers of viral apocalyptic claims in the social media era. Authorities say the case highlights how unverified prophetic messages can spread rapidly online, creating real world anxiety, disruption, and financial harm.
