Troops of Operation Hadin Kai have apprehended four suspected Islamic State of West Africa Province, ISWAP, informants during clearance operations in Hong Local Government Area, Adamawa State. The arrests come amid ongoing military efforts to suppress terrorist activities and improve security in the region.
The operation took place at about 6:30 p.m. on December 30, 2025, in the Garaha and Kakara general areas of Hong LGA. The troops, working in collaboration with local hunters, acted on a tip-off which led to the successful apprehension of the suspects.
The individuals taken into custody have been identified as Chollu Alhaji, Malam Bako Abubakar, Naftali Gabriel, and Madaiba Joseph. According to security analyst Zagazola Makama, the suspects are alleged to have provided intelligence that contributed to a deadly terrorist attack in Dubang village, Hong LGA, on December 29. The attack reportedly resulted in the deaths of several residents, intensifying concerns over the safety of civilians in the area.
Sources indicated that the suspects are currently being held by the Theatre Prosecution Section and are undergoing further investigation. Military officials stressed that the arrests are part of a broader strategy to disrupt terrorist networks, prevent future attacks, and support ongoing security operations across Adamawa State.
Operation Hadin Kai, a coordinated effort between the Nigerian Army and local security actors, has been instrumental in recent successes against ISWAP in northeastern Nigeria. The collaboration with local hunters and community informants has been a key factor in identifying and apprehending suspected insurgents, aiming to reduce civilian casualties and improve intelligence gathering in high-risk areas.
The Nigerian Army continues to urge residents to remain vigilant, provide credible information, and cooperate with security forces to ensure lasting peace and stability in Adamawa and surrounding states.
