Bandits launched a deadly overnight attack in Sabon Birni Local Government Area of Sokoto State, killing three people and looting properties in two rural communities.
The incident was disclosed on Tuesday in a post shared on X by security analyst Bakatsine, who monitors insecurity in northern Nigeria.
According to the report, the attackers first invaded Dan Kura village, where they shot and killed two residents. During the raid, the bandits reportedly moved from house to house, stealing food items, money, and other valuables before leaving the community.
The attackers later proceeded to Dankaka village, where they were allegedly searching for a groom believed to be a member of a local vigilante group. Residents said the groom had recently married and was not at home when the assailants arrived.
After failing to locate him, the bandits reportedly abducted the bride. She was later killed before the attackers fled the area, leaving residents in shock and mourning.
Bakatsine stated that the latest attack has further heightened fear among residents and underscores the worsening security situation in Sabon Birni and surrounding areas, which have witnessed repeated bandit attacks in recent months.
Many residents have called on the government and security agencies to strengthen security presence in the area to prevent further loss of lives.
