Results of Saturday’s matches at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, AFCON, have been confirmed, with two teams securing places in the quarter finals.
Senegal booked their spot in the last eight after defeating Sudan 3 to 1 in their Round of 16 encounter. The defending champions delivered a dominant performance to eliminate Sudan and advance to the next stage of the competition.
In the other Round of 16 fixture played on Saturday, Mali progressed after edging Tunisia in a penalty shoot out. The tightly contested match ended 1 to 1 after extra time, with both sides unable to find a winning goal after 120 minutes of action.
Mali eventually prevailed from the spot and will now face Senegal in the quarter final clash scheduled to take place in the coming days.
Meanwhile, more Round of 16 matches will be played on Sunday. Morocco are set to face Tanzania in an early fixture as they seek a place in the quarter finals.
Later in the evening, South Africa will battle Cameroon in another Round of 16 encounter at the Agdal Medina Stadium in Rabat.
