A shocking case of familial betrayal has emerged in Adamawa State, as a man, Abubakar Sadiq, has confessed to conspiring in the murder of his elder brother for a promised reward of N2 million.
Sadiq, who is now in police custody, admitted that he began playing his part in the plot after receiving N130,000 as an advance payment. According to police sources, he tracked the movements of his elder brother, Alhaji Sadiq Kawu Boga, a prominent businessman residing in Gombi Local Government Area, providing the attackers with information about his brother’s daily activities and locations.
The Adamawa State Police Command, through its spokesperson SP Suleiman Nguroje, confirmed that Sadiq conspired with five other individuals to carry out the murder. “I was told to watch my elder brother and inform them whenever he was at home or moving around. After I received the alert of N130,000 in my bank account, I agreed. I regret my actions deeply. I sold out my own blood brother for N130,000, and I am truly sorry,” Sadiq admitted during interrogation.
Nguroje further explained that Sadiq was later invited to a meeting in a dense bush where the final arrangements for the killing were concluded. The police spokesperson added that the prime suspect will remain in custody as investigations continue, with the other five suspects still at large. Law enforcement authorities are urging anyone with information regarding the incident to come forward to assist in tracking down the remaining suspects.
The murder, which occurred on January 20, 2026, has sent shockwaves through the local community. Residents expressed outrage over the level of greed and betrayal involved in the crime. Many described the incident as an extreme case of moral decay, highlighting how the lure of money can destroy family bonds.
The Adamawa State Police Command assured the public that all leads are being actively pursued and that justice will be served for the slain businessman. The case underscores the ongoing challenges authorities face in combating violent crime and organized plots in the region.
