Speaking during an appearance on Channels Television’s Politics Today on Friday, Nwanyanwu described the current insecurity challenges as manageable for the Armed Forces. According to him, tackling these threats is well within the military’s capacity.

“Let me tell you, I’ve said it many times that Nigeria’s military, this is what I call a akamu case for them. Banditry and terrorism are simple things for the Nigerian military to handle,” he stated, using a local expression to stress how straightforward he believes the task would be for the Armed Forces.

Nwanyanwu added that these operations do not require political interference. “There is no political way to direct the instructions. I’m not there, that’s my intel,” he said, highlighting his confidence in the military’s ability to act decisively and independently.

He also referenced Nigeria’s extensive experience in peacekeeping missions across Africa, pointing out that the Nigerian Army has successfully handled far more complex conflicts abroad. “The Nigerian Army has faced far more serious encounters and wars outside Nigeria,” he said, emphasizing the Armed Forces’ capability and professionalism.

According to the ZLP chairman, a strategic and robust deployment of military resources could swiftly restore security in areas plagued by insurgency and banditry. His remarks come at a time when Nigerians continue to express concern over rising insecurity in various parts of the country.

Nwanyanwu concluded by urging the government and security agencies to leverage the expertise and experience of the military to bring lasting peace and stability to affected communities.
