A 54 year old woman has been arrested by the police following the discovery of an alleged illegal detention facility operating inside her private residence. The suspect was reportedly running a makeshift prison where men who patronised her beer bar were unlawfully detained.
According to information provided by law enforcement authorities, the woman owns a beer bar and allegedly converted a section of her home into a private detention centre. Customers who either failed to settle their bills or became violent and abusive after consuming alcohol were reportedly locked up without any legal process.
Police said the illegal operation had been ongoing since December 2, 2025, during which time at least 36 men were allegedly detained. Some of the victims were reportedly held for drinking without paying, while others were punished for engaging in disorderly conduct, including verbal or physical abuse towards women.
The situation reportedly came to light following intelligence received by security operatives, which prompted a raid on the premises. During the operation, officers discovered several men being held against their will and immediately secured their release. Details surrounding the condition of the detainees and the length of their confinement are still under investigation.
The discovery has sparked widespread shock and concern within the community, with residents expressing disbelief that such an operation could continue unnoticed for several weeks. The incident also generated strong reactions on social media, where many users questioned how a private individual could run an illegal prison without earlier intervention by authorities.
Police confirmed that investigations are ongoing and that the suspect remains in custody as inquiries continue. She is expected to be charged to court upon the conclusion of investigations.
Authorities have warned members of the public against engaging in illegal detention or taking the law into their own hands. They stressed that suspected offenders should be reported to law enforcement agencies for proper handling in accordance with the law.
